Amnesty International Club
Karen Tang
This club focuses on Amnesty International, a private activism, and humanrights group, with more than 10 million members across the world. We sign petitions, fundraise, engage and push legislation, local and national policy change, with our works reaching people like Congress, the US President, Supreme Court, etc. We also branch past the national scale and work with international governments, judicial systems, non-profits, and other private, human rights organizations. We spread awareness over current events, open discussions, and find purpose in enacting real, tangible, policy changes in the world. Simultaneously, we also wish to simplify, and foster more access to topics like human rights, big legislation, government structures, public policy, etc. and much more! Too often, these are subjects that may traditionally overlook or intimidate high school voices. Amnesty International Club strives to give Gunn High students the power, resources, and knowledge to mobilize your own action in justice. If you enjoy social justice, political science, law, current events, public policy, philosophy, environmental science, research, media, debate, etc. or simply want a voice in your own justice, Amnesty International Club is the club for you!
